Discussing the water reuse revolution with LMRE

In a recent conversation with Poppy Clarke of LMRE, our VP of Operations, Megan Thomas, discusses Epic's goal to transform the way we think about recycled water. One of the biggest hurdles onsite water reuse faces is regulatory acceptance in new markets. Wider expansion of water recycling technology is slowed by what we refer to as the "yuck factor." 

 

We think there's more to this work than implementing technology; it’s about building resilient infrastructure and embracing innovation to meet the challenges we face today with water insecurity, climate change, and increased urban development.

At the Waldorf Astoria Beverly Hills, our system helps recycle more than 438,000 gallons of highly purified greywater annually for onsite irrigation, driving forward-thinking sustainability in hotel technology.

Eye opening stats about water use in football

Ever thought about how much water goes into Football? From commercial bathroom breaks to the gallons behind every beer, hot dog, and stadium cleanup, water is the true MVP of game day. So whether you’re at the stadium, at a tailgate, or tuning in from the couch this season, take a moment to appreciate the water (and the professionals who keep it flowing)!

 

🚽 Bathroom Breaks: Flushing a toilet uses 2-7 gallons per flush.

🍺 Beer Brewing: It takes 5-7 gallons of water to brew just one gallon of beer.

🌭 Water Usage in Hot Dogs: It can take over 72 gallons of water to make a single 1.6 oz hot dog (just from the pork alone).

🍅 Salsa Making: It takes up to 50 gallons of water to make a single 16 oz jar of salsa (think watering, washing, prepping, bottling...)

🏟️ Stadium Consumption: Watering an NFL field with just one inch of water takes about 36,000 gallons per water cycle.

📺 At Home Viewing: Watching from home also adds up. Think dishwashing, cooking, laundry, and more bathroom trips!
